My Story:
When I bought my home in the West Village, it was because, at the time, the neighborhood felt close-knit, cultured, inclusive, and low-key; very similar to the Montclair community where I grew up. In 2012 after living in the city for over 20 years, I packed up my family and moved back to my hometown.
Why I chose to return to NJ:
Growing up in Montclair NJ, I developed an appreciation for the long-lasting benefits of a balanced community. I believe that Northern NJ still offers that opportunity, along with great schools (both my kids attend the public school system), a vibrant cultural community, and beautiful architecture. Essex county was, and still is, a unique and magical place to grow up. It is rare you find an area that can be so much to so many people.
Do I miss the city?
Friends and clients asked if I miss the city – I don’t because the city will always be there and is convenient to visit from where I live. In fact, the commute from West Village to the UES or Park Slope is the same as from Montclair to NYC! I will admit, it wasn’t an easy (or quick) decision to move: the city was a part of me, I loved it so much, I dedicated my life working for it! But within a year of moving, I had added many friends to my community, had more space to host my friends, an amazing garden, and just as many cultural events to keep me occupied.
